George C. "Bud" Shannon, Jr., 83, of Vidor, died Thursday, February 14, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 18, 2008, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Kevin Brown, pastor of First Baptist Church in Mauriceville.

Burial will follow at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park in the McLewis Community of Orange.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday, February 17, 2008, at the funeral home.

Born in Mauriceville on September 3, 1924, Bud was the son of George C. Shannon, Sr. and Sidney Bland Shannon.

He retired as Senior Foreman from Mobil Oil; was a U.S. Army veteran of W.W. II; a member of Beaumont Lodge 286 AF&AM and First Baptist Church in Mauriceville.

Preceded in death by his parents and ten brothers and sisters; Bud is survived by his wife, Jeweldean "Jenny" Shannon of Vidor; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Ed Gallier of Beaumont; granddaughter, Cara Crossley of Dallas; sister, Alice Anderson of Houston and numerous nieces and nephews.
