George Johnson

George "Ollie" Johnson, 63, of Mauriceville passed away, Saturday, February 16, 2008 in Beaumont.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Cliffton Rankin of the Reformed Presbyterian Church and Reverend Delphyn Meeks of St. Maurice Catholic Church in Mauriceville. Interment will follow at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park in McLewis Community.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-11:00 p.m., Monday, February 18, 2008 at the funeral home.

Ollie was born in Jonesville, LA on October 1, 1944 to Louie and Audrey Hardie Johnson. Ollie served on the LCM school Board from 1977-1995. He retired from Kraft Foods after 14 years. He also was a member of the Mauriceville Volunteer Fire Department and the Orange County Rural Fire District for numerous years. Ollie was President of the Twin County Little League and was a volunteer for the Mauriceville Crawfish Festival and Mauriceville Senior Citizen Christmas Supper.

He was preceded in death by his father, Louie Johnson; sister, Carolyn Harris; brother, Carl Johnson and daughter, Kimberly Johnson.

Ollie is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Bland Johnson, mother, Audrey Johnson, sons, Kenneth Johnson of Mauriceville, Kevin Johnson and wife Susanne of Mauriceville, daughters, Katrina Baker and husband Jeff of Nashville, TN and Kristina Edwards and husband Kerry of Texas City, TX. Also surviving Ollie are five grandchildren, Tonya Johnson, Steven Johnson, Haden Johnson, Taylor Edwards, Jessica Baker and brother, W.L. Johnson of Orange.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Bland, T-Ray Viator, Ricky Viator, Jeff Viator, Jerry Viator, Carl Allen Johnson, Ronnie Harris, and Michael Johnson.

Mauriceville has lost a good man. Ollie gave of himself to build and improve our schools, our fire department, our community as a whole and serve the people.
