Gertrude "Mrs. Gertie" Leach, 89, passed away August 14, 2009 in Beaumont with her daughter by her side.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, August 16, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn.

There will be a gathering of friends and family from 5 -8 p.m. on Saturday at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gertie was born November 18, 1919 in Warren to James and Martha Cain Read.

She was a beautician during the day and at night she was a nurse. She loved her family and was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lewis B. Leach, Sr. and son, James Thomas Leach.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, JoAnn Stuart of Beaumont; son, Lewis B. Leach, Jr. of Vista, CA and grandchildren, Tommy, Mike, Lewis, Jamie, Tina, Rene and Jody. She is also survived by her 13 great grandchildren; one great great grandson and her sister, Corrine Chadwick of Beaumont.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Robert Birdwell, Bonnie and staff as well as Odyssey Healthcare of Beaumont and their staff, Pam, Mickey, Susan, Sandy, Marcy, Brenda, Shirley, Carmen, Alma, Kristi, James, Trisha, William, Nikki and Brother Gary.
