Gladys Venable

Gladys Venable, 97, was born February 25, 1910 to Dolta and Amelia St. Germaine in Jennings, LA. She went to be with her Lord on Sunday, February 10th, 2008.

Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, February 12th at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Orange.

Visitation will be from 6:00-9:00 p.m., Monday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. A wake service will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Gladys was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and matriarch to her large and extended family. She was a longtime Orange resident and member of St. Mary's Church, the Altar Society, and Catholic Daughters.

Her hobbies were gardening, sewing, cooking, and traveling with her family and friends. She was dearly loved by her family and all who knew her.

Gladys is preceded in death by her husband A. B. Venable, grandson Todd Lindsey, and great- grandsons: Kristin Lindsey and Josh White.

She is survived by her children Douglas Venable and wife Sue, Jeanette Burleson and husband Bud, and Gerald Lindsey Sr. and wife Susie. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Gerald Lindsey Jr., Chad Lindsey, Charlean Lindsey, Liz Guess, Lisa Nelms, Douglas Venable Jr., Charles Venable, Christopher Venable and 6 step-grandchildren: Sandy Samford, Vickie Daigle, Beth Thibodeaux, Sharon Stewart, Jackie White and Danny Tarbutton as well as 22 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.

For the last two years Gladys was also lovingly cared for by Carmen Birmingham and the services of Harbor Hospice of Beaumont.

Pallbearers will be: Barry Guess, Charles Venable, Danny Tarbutton, Douglas Venable Jr., Gerald Lindsey Jr. and Christopher Venable along with honorary pallbearers James Tarbutton. Mike Nelms and Mike Wallace.
