Glenda Murphy Edgerton

Glenda Murphy Edgerton, 76, of Orange, Texas died Friday, September 10, 2010, at Christus Dubuis Hospital in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Mark Pedersen of First United Methodist Church in Vidor. Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange.

Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.

Born in Port Arthur, Texas on October 13, 1933, Glenda was the daughter of Edna Lee McFerran and Arthur Johnson. She worked as a store accountant at The Fair and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Edna Johnson; husband, Clarence Kurviest Murphy; son, Gary Elliott; and grandson, Jesse Winn.

Glenda is survived by her husband, James Edgerton; daughters, Brenda Lee Chandler of Vidor, Deborah Wilson and her husband Elmer, also of Vidor; sons, Coy Elliott and his wife, Donna of Orange, Wesley Holden of Houston; step-daughters, Sheila Young and husband Jim of Springtown, Yvette Vaughn and husband Randy of Joplin; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She is also survived by her sister, Gloria Tucker of Baton Rouge, LA; and brother, Thomas Cooper of Slaughter, LA.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Jason Russell, Jerry Barbo, John Winn, Brandon Anderson, Bradley Russell, and Cole Anderson.

Jimmy, As you know Glenda was very special member of our family. We are grateful for the time we spent with her and we will miss her deeply.
