Gloria Rayburn Venable

Gloria "Miss Cody" Rayburn Venable, 78, of Orange, died Saturday, May 22, 2010 in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Bridge City.

Visitation will be from 5:00-9:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home in Orange.

Gloria was born on October 11, 1931 in Jennings, LA. She was the daughter of Reuben "Fred" F. and Helen Bernice Smith Oehler. Gloria worked as a truck driver for Ace Transportation.

She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, James "Jim" Rayburn; son, Jimmy Earl Rayburn; sister, Ollie Mae Shew; and step-daughter, Rebel Darlene Venable.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, J.R. Venable; son, Jimmy Rayburn of Lake Charles; daughter, Tanya Rayburn Brindle and husband, Tim Peterson of Boise, ID; and grandchildren, Erica Lynn Rayburn, Ryan Brindle and wife, Melissa, Daniel Brindle, and Raven Colt Abbott.

Gloria is also survived by her brother, James Oehler and wife, Lucy; sister-in-law, Anne Wright and son, Wayne Choate; and good friends, Katie Kemp and Glenda Kinder.
