Gretchen Van Derdoes Boyett

1940 ∼ 2016

Mrs. Gretchen Ruth Boyett, 75, passed away Thursday, January 28, 2016 at her home in Dallas.

She was born January 29, 1940 in Pt. Arthur, Tx to her parents Earl Van Derdoes and Jessie Beatrice Thom Van Derdoes who both preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert Eura (Bob) Boyett.

Gretchen and Bob, or Bobby as he was known to family, were married in June 1962 and made their home in Beaumont for 20 years until relocating to Dallas in the early 1980’s. Many family members hold to fond memories of Bobby & Gretchen that were made during holiday gatherings at their grand home on North Street in Beaumont.

She is survived by her sister Lois Hanes, her brother-in-law Michael Boyett and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a graveside service at 2:00 pm on Thursday, Feb. 4th at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Beaumont.

Such a wonderful friend and a great friendship, of 25 years, came to an end this week. My dear friend Gretchen may be gone, but will always be in my memory and heart. We spoke most every day, went out to eat a lot, and we're going to lunch, to celebrate her birthday, on Friday. To her family and friends, I know your hearts are hurting, as mine.
