Guy W. Burks

Guy Wilburn Burks, 76, of Lumberton died Thursday, May 14, 2008 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.

Guy was born December 8, 1932 in Kirbyville to the late Frank and Claudia Burks and was a retired superintendent for Allco Construction. He and his wife, Betty Joy Burks resided in Beaumont for 48 years. After her passing, he married Shirley Harvey and resided in Lumberton where he was a member of Crestwood Baptist Church.

His favorite hobbies were hunting and fishing with his boys. He also loved working with his hands in the flowerbeds and gardens.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Burks; sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn and Susie Burks, Jerry and Pam Burks, Ricky and Leigh Burks; step-son, Scott Harvey; step-daughter, Kim Touchtone; brother, Gene Burks; half-brother, Earl Burks; brother-in-law, Larry Crosby and wife, Debbeye; grandchildren, Kristy Burks Platt, Kevin Burks, Jeremy Burks, Brad Burks and Haden Burks; great-grandchild, Laney Gracen Platt.

In addition to his parents and first wife, Betty, he was preceded in death by his brother, Clarence Burks.

Funeral services will be Sunday, May 17, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. at Central Baptist Church in Kirbyville with Brother Larry Staggs, pastor of Crestwood Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be at 4:30 p.m. in the Magnolia Springs Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. Sunday prior to the service.

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Wilburn, he was one of my favorite kin.aunt Claudia was my aunt and she was a wonderful person too.
