Harold Joseph Dalfrey, Sr.

Harold Joseph Dalfrey, Sr., 73, of Orange, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 2, 2008, from his home with his family by his side. He died peacefully after fighting a courageous battle with lung cancer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Orange, with Reverend Joseph P. Daleo, pastor, serving as celebrant.

Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Orange, under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home.

Visitation will begin Monday at noon and a rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., both at the funeral home.

Born in Lafayette, Louisiana on August 12, 1934, Harold, who was known as "Champ" by his friends and co-workers, was the son of Elie and Dorita Bourque Dalfrey.

He has lived in Orange since April, 1964 and worked as a painter for Dal Sasso Enterprises.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and

a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Harold belonged to the Ball and Chain Bowling League from 1976 until 1979 and enjoyed bowling on Wednesday nights with the league.

He received great pleasure spending time with family and friends, watching his great grandchildren play T-Ball and being with his prayer group on Wednesday nights

Mr. Dalfrey was preceded in death by his brother, Lee Allen "Mimmie" Dalfrey and is survived by his children, Patty Crowell and her husband, Rick, Cheryl Stevens and her husband, Matthew, all of Orange, Faye Patten and her husband, Bill, Harold "Joey" Dalfrey, II, all of Sulphur, Louisiana.

Also surviving are his sisters and brother, Rose Nation of Port Arthur, Patsy Ruth Miller and Patsy Ann Romero, both of Duson, Louisiana, Raymond Romero of Youngsville, Louisiana; seven grandchildren, Monica Crowell Belden and her husband, Brian, Robert Patten, Ryan Crowell,

Matthew Stevens, Jr. and his wife, Lindsay, Shane Patten, Heather Stevens, Emily Dalfrey; and five great grandchildren, Breanne Belden, Jarrett Belden, Kaleigh Belden, Makinzi Stevens and Jada Patten.

Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Patten, Ryan Crowell, Matthew Stevens, Jr., Shane Patten, Allen Dalfrey and Chad Dalfrey.

Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Joseph "Joey" Dalfrey, II, Rick Crowell, Matthew Stevens, Sr., Bill Patten, Brian Belden, Jarrett Belden, Raymond Romero, Travis Miller and Elvin Michaud, Sr.
