Funeral services for Henry Clay Mathis, 91, of Beaumont, TX will be Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home. A gathering of friends and family will be Monday, September 19, from 5:00 ? 8:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.
Clay was born August 11, 1920 in Denmark, MS to John and Carra Hill Mathis but was a longtime resident of Beaumont.
Surviving Clay are his wife, Lucille Mathis; his son, Russell ?Rusty? Mathis and his wife, Rosemary; daughter, Carra Jo Alston and her husband Phillip; grandchildren, Marjorie Grace Mathis, Allen Clay Mathis and his wife, Amy, Emily Anne Mathis and Caraline Hope Alston; and great-grandson Cohen Clay Mathis.
Preceding Clay in death are his parents and five brothers and sisters.
Clay will be missed by many who knew and still love him.
