Hilda Elise Tidwell Heartfield

Hilda Elise Heartfield died on Friday, January 27, 2012. at Bayou Manor in Houston, TX. She was born in Fostoria, TX on August 19, 1920, to Albert Milton Tidwell and Rachel Ann Huffman Tidwell. Her family moved to Beaumont when she was three years old and she graduated from South Park High School when she was sixteen. In 1939 she married Louis Donald Heartfield. He preceded her in death in 1990.

Hilda was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. In her younger years, she was active in Sunday School and children's vacation bible school. She also enjoyed various civic and social organizations. She was on the board and served as co-captain of the Capital Fund Drive for the YWCA in 1954. She was a member of the first year of the Beaumont Symphony Women's League.

She enjoyed working with children and served seven years as a volunteer at the Cerebral Palsy Foundation through Mylady Garden Club. She also served on various committees of the Neches River Festival.

In 1965 she joined the staff of Angie Nall School and taught children with learning disabilities for twenty-three years, retiring in 1988.

Hilda is survived by her son, Louis Donald Heartfield, Jr. of Pasadena, TX and daughter, Lorraine Heartfield of Prairie Grove, AR.

Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at 1;30 p.m. at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 1350 North 23rd St., Beaumont, TX with Dr. Harland Merriam officiating. Family and friends will gather from 1:00 p.m. until the service time. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery under the direction of Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home.

I remember Mrs. Heartfield. She was a wonderful teacher, who I believed enjoyed her profession, very much. Thats what made Angie Nall School, a special school, because of great teachers, like Mrs. Heatfield.She will be missed.##imported-begin##Bill Bever 1967-1971##imported-end##
