Howard Eugene Blaschke

Howard Eugene Blaschke was born on April 15, 1940 in Schulenburg, Texas. A former longtime resident of Houston, he lived in Sour Lake for 40+ years. He was the son of the late Charles Frank Blaschke and Emily Ludwig Blaschke.

As a teenager, he enlisted in the Army, achieving the rank of Specialist E4 (SPE4) and served as a member of the military police for two years. He retired from AT&T after twenty-one years of service. A lifelong cook and lover of food, he went back to school and earned a degree in Food Service Management from Lamar University Institute of Technology. He then went to work for the IT department at Lamar University before retiring again.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dona Inez Page Blaschke; brothers and sisters-in-law, Grady Joseph and Lucille, Charlie Edward and Barbara & Jo Ann, Leo Anthony; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy Mae Othold and Weldon, Virginia Faye Fishbeck and Ervin, Vivian Joyce Clifton and Doyle, Melba Lee Hayden and Bob & Leon Kaufman, Maydelle Grace Frazier and Don, Lillian Elizabeth Dill and Gerald; brothers-in-law, Billy Page, A.C. Tunstall, Don Travis; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Page. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather.

He is survived by his children, Suzanne Sparks, Lynette Kennard and husband Russel, Stephen Blaschke, Leo Anthony Blaschke; grandchildren, Steven Sparks, Jr. and wife Christine, Scott Sparks and wife Lizzy, Zachary Kennard and wife Alex, Ethan Kennard and wife Kyra, Joshua Kennard; great-grandchildren, Gracie Sparks and partner Ben Norris, Wyatt Sparks, Sterling Sparks, Addie Rose Kennard; great-great-grandson, Beau Norris; sister-in-law, Margaret Sharon Travis; brother-in-law, John David Page and wife Donna; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 25, 2026, at LaBrie Claybar Funeral Services in Beaumont. Burial will follow at Haven of Rest Cemetery in Beaumont.

Visitation will begin prior to the service at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 25, 2026, at LaBrie Claybar Funeral Services in Beaumont.
