Howard P. Downs, 66, of Lumberton passed away Monday, July 19, 2010 at his home.

A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Wesley Blanton. Interment will follow at Del Rose Cemetery in Vidor.

A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Downs was born October 1, 1943 in Waterproof, LA to Clarence Homer and Eloise McGehee Downs. He worked construction as a dozer operator.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Traci Downs and is survived by his sons, Bryan Downs and Timothy Downs and four grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, JoNan and Bill Barnard; brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Devena Downs and sister, Virginia Lalande.

My heart and prayers go out to family of an old childhood friend.. Time was the 60's. Daddy,my 2 brother's and I were sitting on the porch. Here come Howard !!! My condolences to the Downs family.Howard and I were were good friends back in the late 50's early 60s.Back on magnolia street with his dog "Bimbo".
