Imogene ?Jean? Austin McElroy, 69, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2007 in Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston after complications following a stroke on Monday. She was born on November 8, 1937 and was a native of Lumberton. She was a tax consultant/bookkeeper for 30 years and was currently working for Reeves Tile and Marble. She was an avid gardener with a love for flowers, hummingbirds and eagles, and she loved her children and grandchildren more than life itself.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, June 5, 2007 in the Charles S. Kelley Memorial Chapel at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont with a separate graveside service at 4:00 P.M. in Jack?s Cemetery in Pineland. Visitation will be Monday, June 4, 2007 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lenwood, Sr. and Gladys Austin as well as her brother, Lenwood ?Butch? Austin, Jr. of Beaumont.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Milton D McElroy of Lumberton; sister,

Jo Ann Talcott and husband, Frank of Vidor; daughters, Pam Mouton of Lumberton and Melissa Fortenberry and husband, Robin of Houston; son, Lynn McElroy and wife, Wendy of Lumberton; grandchildren, Ashton Mouton, Raya and Macy Fortenberry and Cody and Emma McElroy; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, extended family and many friends.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Milton McElroy, Lynn McElroy, Cody McElroy and Robin Fortenberry

Although we know Jean is in a better place, she will be sorely missed.
