Isola Cormier

Isola Cormier, 90, of Orange, died Friday, May 4, 2012, at The Meadows in Orange.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, with Reverend Francis Conroy officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, with a Scriptural Rosary at 6:30 p.m.

Born in Cecilia, Louisiana on Good Friday, April 14, 1922, Mrs. Cormier was the daughter of Aldus and Beatrice Tauzin Stoute. A Professed Lay Dominican, Mrs. Cormier was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and was a member of the Catholic Daughters for almost 50 years. She was a lay minister to the sick and dying for 20 years and was a Eucharistic minister for 20 years. She was the leader of the Thursday night Marian Rosary Prayer Group, and she valued her trips to Medjugorje.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Leroy Cormier, grandson, Evan Michael Rayner; and brother, Donald Stoute.

Mrs. Cormier is survived by her husband of 73 years, James Cormier of Orange; daughter, Jeanette Hubert and husband Iky of Orange; son, Steve Cormier and wife Barbra of Vinton; her niece that she helped raise, Russela Stoute of New Iberia; grandchildren, Wendy Rayner and husband Chris, James Bryant, Tracy Mere and husband Joey; great-grandchildren, Steven Mere, Savannah Mere, Kalyn Rayner, Cale Rayner; brother, Irby Stoute of Lafayette; and many nieces and nephews.

Serving as Pallbearers will be James Bryant, Chris Rayner, Joey Mere, Norris Stoute, Ron Rhodes, Scotty Wilson, and Fred "Iky" Hubert.
