Jack Nance

Jack Nance, 81, of Orange, died Tuesday, December 2, 2008, at Baptist Hospital in Orange.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 6, 2008, at Old First Orange Baptist Church, with Reverend Bailey Harris, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday at the church.

Born in Orange on September 9, 1927, Jack was the son of Eugene and Barbara Smaihall Nance.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Firestone following 30 years of service.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, and four brothers, James Nance, Bill Nance, Wimberly Nance and Robert Nance.

He is survived by his wife, Dell Nance of Orange; sons and daughters-in-law, Skipper and Pat Nance of Lake Sam Rayburn, Chipper and Connie Nance of Orange, Jackie Nance of Houston, Tony and Shelley Landry of Orange, Joey Landry of Houston; daughters and sons-in-law, Stacy and Wendell Tilley, Trina and Jimmy Norwood, all of Orange, Melinda and Dixie Olney of Bridge City.

Also surviving are his grandchildren, Bruce Nance and his wife, Celeste, Brandon Nance and his wife, Alicia, Misty Nance, Mindy Parra and her husband, Jose, Kaycie Tilley, Kellie Tilley, Chad Norwood, Sunni Landry, Courtney Landry; great grandchildren, Bryton and Cadence Nance, Maebree Nance and Presley Parra.

He is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Betty Nance, Louis and Carol Nance, all of Orange and his sister-in-law, Earlene Nance of Orange.

Serving as pallbearers will be Bruce Nance, Brandon Nance, Dixie Olney, Jose Parra, Chad Norwood and Lowell Nance.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jim English, Rusty Quigley, Carl Busby, Harold Hardin, Gladman Ratcliff and Tommy Carter.

We are so sorry for the loss of Jack. He was a fine man and we cherish the memories of the times visited here on Lake Rayburn. Our loss is Heaven's gain. We will pray for you in the days ahead. I was saddened by the loss of Mr. Nance. I have known him ever since I was a small girl. My Dad and Mr. Nance were good friends so I have many memories of him. My prayers and thoughts go out to the family in this time.##imported-begin##Sharon Dowden Dixon##imported-end##
