Jack Robert Gisclar

Jack Robert Gisclar, 79, of Beaumont, passed away quietly Monday, May 14, 2007, after enduring a long illness complicated by pneumonia.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 17, 2007, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Bridge City. Reverend David Berkheimer of Community Church in Orange will be officiating.

Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 5:00-9:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Gisclar was born June 6, 1927, in Groves to Joseph and Edith Chauvin Gisclar.

Mr. Gisclar graduated from Orange High School in May of 1945, during the same year he joined the U.S. Navy and later served in the Navy Reserves. He was a longtime resident of Bridge City and he retired after 31 years from Dupont Sabine River Works, he was a lifetime member of VFW Post 2775, a lifetime member of Full Gospel Business Men?s Fellowship, a charter founder of Bridge City Volunteer Fire Department, Scout Master for Bridge City Troop 33 and past Exalted Ruler of the Port Arthur Elks Lodge.

Mr. Gisclar was preceded in death by his son, Kenner Gisclar, sister, Dorothy Crain and parents, Joseph and Edith Gisclar.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Flora Glynn Durham Gisclar, of Beaumont, children, Jackie Gisclar of Colorado, Curney Gisclar, Sr. of Mississippi, Dariah Gisclar of San Antonio and Mark Gisclar of Florida; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, sister Edith Jones of Missouri and brother-in-law and sister in law, Shirley and Dorothy Marks of Wildwood.

Our prayers and thoughts are with you. I'm so thankful I met him again at the family reunion a few years ago in Abbeville. I can hear Uncle Jackie saying "Hello Darling".
