Jack Wilson Smith

Jack Wilson Smith, 85, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ October 21, 2009.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 25, 2009, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Scott McIntosh of North Orange Baptist Church.

Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.

Visitation will be from 5:00-9:00 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.

Jack was born on January 22, 1924, in Milan, Tennessee. He was the son of Jack Dickinson Smith and Ione Wilson Smith. Jack served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. He worked as a Chemical Engineer for Firestone. Jack was active in the Joy Group at First Church of the Nazarene and also attended North Orange Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Sue Kelly Smith.

Jack was loved and will be missed by his brother, Norman R. Smith and wife Helen of Millington, Tennessee; son, Jeffrey Wilson Smith and wife Ginger of Montgomery, Alabama; daughters and sons-in-law, Cathey and Gary Self and Marcia and Roger Ray both of Orange; daughter, Kelly Simmons of Houston; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Cathy, Marsha and Kelly, My prayers are with you during this time. I only have the greatest memories of you dad and your mom as well. Sunday school was not the same without your dad.
