James Walton Harris, born on June 11, 1960, in Beaumont, Texas, passed away on October 4, 2025, in DeRidder, Louisiana. A dedicated Army veteran, James was known for his kind heart and generous spirit. He left a lasting impact through his compassionate actions and unwavering patriotism.
James's life was rich with service to others. Many cherished memories highlight his dedication to the community, particularly the times he and his sister, Margaret Harris, volunteered with the Jewish Synagogue to deliver meals on Christmas Day to individuals in need. His commitment extended further as he helped coordinate HAM radios during disasters and actively participated in working election polls, ensuring a voice for every citizen. James also proudly continued his family legacy in joining the Civil Air Patrol, assisting in emergency services and the search and rescue of downed aircrafts.
James was an avid gardener, finding peace and joy in nurturing the earth, and he had a deep passion for HAM radios, which allowed him to connect with others and share his love for technology. His personality shone brightly; he was a proud Christian who embodied values of kindness and generosity throughout his life.
He is survived by his beloved sister, Margaret Harris; along with his nieces and nephews: Elizabeth Hargraves-Jobran and her husband, Yaser, Hannah Ward, Nathanial Ward and his wife, Cheryl, Abigail Ward, and Rachel Ward. Their memories of James are filled with love and respect, adorned with the many ways he supported and encouraged them throughout their lives.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Eugenia Harris, whose legacy of love and nurture shaped the man he became.
A visitation will be held on October 13, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at LaBrie Claybar Funeral Home in Beaumont, Texas, beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont, Texas.
James Walton Harris will be remembered as a generous soul who touched the lives of many and exemplified the best of humanity. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
