James L. Tippett, 88, of Lumberton, passed away August 29, 2011 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born August 20, 1923 in Port Arthur to David and Eulah Lang Tippett.

Mr. Tippett has been a resident of Lumberton since 1966 and retired from Gulf Oil Corp in 1984. He is a long-time member of Woodcrest United Methodist Church. James and Hattie spent their retirement years traveling in the U.S. and abroad.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Woodcrest United Methodist Church in Lumberton. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Woodville. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 ? 8:00 p.m. at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Sharon Mannino and husband, Mark; granddaughter, Jessica Evans and sister, Laura Jan Clay. He is preceded in death by his wife, Hattie Joe Tippett; son, Charles Wayne Tippett and his parents.
