James Otha Crumpler

James Otha Crumpler, 84, of Port Arthur, died Friday, February 25, 2011, at his home.

Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 27, 2011, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Judge Dennis Powell and Reverend Troy L. Hopkins. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.

Visitation will be from 5:00-9:00 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.

Born in Jonesboro, Louisiana on October 7, 1926, James was the son of Shelby Lee and Atsie Lee Bell Crumpler. He was the founder and owner of Crumpler Shipbuilding of Orange and Crumpler Machine Shop of Bridge City. He served in the U.S. Army and attended New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Port Arthur.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ava Jeanne Crumpler; daughter, Dorothy June Crumpler Faircloth; and sister, Diane Dubose.

James is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Sherilyn and Roger Brister, Ann and Larry Martin, all of Orange, Jana and Michael Fisette of Bridge City; sons and daughters-in-law, James Michael and Stacey Crumpler, Stephen and Cindy Crumpler, all of Bridge City; son-in-law, Steven Faircloth of Orange; 17 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his sister, Eula Hebert; and brothers, Dulin Crumpler, Billy Crumpler, Kenneth Crumpler, Bobby Crumpler, and Marvin Crumpler.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Kent Broussard, Jacob Martin, Cody Fisette, Jeff Fisette, Stevie Crumpler, Paul Hutson, and Ricky Poche.

The family is especially thankful to his friend and caregiver, Michelle Broussard and her daughter, Gabby. We love and appreciate you more than you know.

im so sorry for yas loss.i have so many great childhood memories of mr crumpler being in my youth sherilyn and i spent many times together enjoying "sundays" after church.he always treated me as his own "always correcting me if i did wrong"and laughing ##imported-begin##charlotte cloud bienick##imported-end##

May God be with James Crumpler's family at this time of loss and grief. He was a wonderful support and blessing to us when Bill was employed at Crumpler's Machine and Welding Service.
