Jan Hancock Herring

1958 ∼ 2021

Jan Hancock Herring peacefully went to rest with the Lord on November 10, 2021. She was born in Jasper, Texas on January 30, 1958, and was a graduate of Stephen F Austin University. A lifelong Texas resident, she spent the last five years in Beaumont, with her husband, Roger. Jan was a friend to many, and was active in several church communities throughout her life.

Jan had a love for music, late-night card games, and laughter. She found great joy in trying new things and visiting new places, as well as in life’s simple pleasures. She lived a life that was guided by kindness, patience, fun, and love- her greatest love being her two children.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin Kenneth Hancock and Norma Jean Hancock.

She is survived by her husband; Roger Herring of Beaumont, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Bryan Page of Albuquerque, New Mexico; son Ryan Nichols of Lancaster, California; sister and brother-in-law Nancy and John Sloan of Diboll, Texas; sister Kay Binkley of Tyler, Texas; four nieces and a nephew; three grandchildren she shared with Roger; and countless friends- including her lifelong best friend Rita Hewitt of Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Arrangements will be under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
