J. C. Baker

Joseph Clarence Baker, Sr. was born September 26, 1928 to Amith Pugh and Louise Snider Baker in Little Pine Island, TX and passed away March 20, 2012 at his residence in Lumberton. Mr. Baker was a life-time resident of Lumberton, served in the Merchant Marines for two years, four years in the US Navy and was a retired iron worker.

Funeral services will be Sunday, March 25 at 2:00 PM at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home with interment to follow in Leatherwood-Loeb Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home on Saturday from 5:00 – 8:00 PM.

J.C. is survived by his children, Joseph Baker Jr. and wife, Debbie, Christine Stacey, Linda Singleton and husband, Jim, Charles Baker and wife, Kathryn, Beverly Lyons and husband, Mark, Tobie Baker, John Baker Sr. and wife, Pam; step-son, Aubrey Waller and wife; Jean; brothers, Daniel Baker and wife, Ailine and Phillip Baker and wife, Dolores; nineteen grandchildren; host of great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie; second wife, Etta Pauline; parents and four brothers.

Jay and family took me and my sister in when we were about homeless , we were very young.he was a nice man, .sorry to hear he has passed. Just want to say thank you to the whole family for your help ,I have alot of good memories that were life changing for me and my sister.
