Jessie Lee Roy Neel

Lee Roy Neel, 86, of Mauriceville, died Saturday, July 12, 2008 at The Meadows in Orange.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Kevin Brown and Reverend Doug McWhirter.

A graveside will follow at 5:00 p.m. at Neel Cemetery in Newton.

Visitation will be from 6:00-9:00 p.m., Monday, at Claybar Funeral Home.

Lee Roy was born on October 11, 1921, in San Augustine. He was the son of Robert Marion and Myrtie Parker Neel. He was a WW II veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. Mr. Neel was a retired operator from DuPont-Sabine River Works. He was also a member and deacon at First Baptist Church of Mauriceville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Myrtie Neel; brother Verdell Neel; two step sisters; and one step brother.

Survivors include his wife, Madelene Clark Neel of Mauriceville; daughter and son-in-law, Beverly Neel McWhirter and Doug of Mauriceville; son and daughter-in-law, Lee Roy Neel and Alice of Newton; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Gattis Luman of Enid, OK; and brother, Lee Noy Neel of Tyler.

Serving as pallbearers are Paul McWhirter, Jimmy Neel, John Lewis, Charlie Fuller, Willie Barrow, and Bric Barrow.

Honorary pallbearers are the Deacons of First Baptist Church Mauriceville.

Should friends desire, memorial contribution may be sent to First Baptist Church Mauriceville building fund, 11540 Hwy 12, Orange, 77632.

I am very sorry to learn about the death of Jessie Neel. I'm sure that this must have been a difficult time for all. Therefore, I'm forwarding scripture that will comfort you. Psalm 90:10 says that the usual human life span is 70 or 80 years. This was ##imported-begin##J Nunnally##imported-end##
