Jessie Mae Snipes

Jessie Mae Snipes, 73, of Orange, died Monday, January 24, 2011, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 27, 2011, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Evan Dolive of First Christian Church. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.

Visitation will be from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Jessie Snipes, a pillar of her family and community. When times were hard and obstacles prevailed, she was there with open arms of love, warmth and forgiveness.

She was born in Boldo, Alabama on September 25, 1937, the daughter of William Jackson Robertson and Mary Jane Kimbrell Robertson. Jessie spent most of her life taking care of her family and was an active member of First Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cleo Franklin Snipes; son, Michael Scott Snipes; and brothers, Thomas Hocutt, Mickey Hocutt and Leon Robertson.

Jessie is survived by her three sons, William Franklin Snipes of Orange, Carl B. Snipes and his fiancée, Lisa Steiner of Orange, and Glenn D. Snipes and his wife, Liisa of Angleton.

She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Bryan, Nicole, Johnathan, Justin and Sabrina Snipes; several great-grandchildren; brothers, Bussie Robertson and Buddy Robertson; and three sisters, Linda Hoggle, Shirley Kent and Mary Ruth Glover.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Craig Simmons, Justin Snipes, Frank Stone and Bryan Snipes. Honorary Pallbearers will be Buddy Robertson, Milton Robertson, Bussie Robertson and Burt Daniels.
