Jewel Cowling

Jewel Olene Cowling, 87, of Orange, died Friday, March 14, 2008, at Loving Care Private Care Facility.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery, in West Orange, with the Reverend Rob Fisher, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Orange, officiating.

Visitation will begin at 7:00 p.m. Monday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Mrs. Cowling was born in Cedar Hill, Tennessee on September 13, 1920, the daughter of Robert and Pearl Pitt.

She was a former resident of Bryan, had lived in Orange for the past year and a half and was a member of First United Methodist Church.

While living in Bryan, she was a volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital with over 10, 000 volunteer hours.

Preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Dewey Cowling, she is survived by her sons anddaughters-in-law, Ron and Sue Cowling of Orange, Marty and Sherry Cowling of Germany; sister and brother-in-law, Mabel and Robby Fowler of Longview; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Ronny Douglas and Marty, I have to tell you - I am so sorry about your Mom and my Auntie's passing. It has been a hard few years on this family. The last time I saw Aunt Dawsey was at Dad's funeral. She, Aunt Rip and Aunt Bea sang Amazing Grace along w##imported-begin##Roy Pitt##imported-end##

We are so sorry for your loss. Aunt Dossie was just as named a Jewel. I can hear her voice as I write this. She always made me feel grown because, she never treatd me like a child.
