Jim David

1958 ∼ 2009

Jim David

James Hustmyre David, born in Orange, Texas on September 12, 1958 was called home by his heavenly Father on March 12, 2009. Visitation will be held at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange beginning Sunday, March 15th, at 5:00 p.m., with Rosary/Vigil at 6:00 p.m., with Reverend Mr. Harvey Dubois officiating. A funeral mass will be held at St. Anne Catholic Church in Beaumont with Reverend William Manger officiating on Monday, March 16th at 10:00 a.m., with a Graveside Service at 2:00 p.m., Monday afternoon at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Orange.

Jim was preceded in death by his loving Mother, Frances Dullahan David. He is survived by his two sons, James Brody and Derek Allen, and their mother, Kristy David, all of Beaumont; his father, Julius H. David, Jr., of Orange, and his eight siblings and their spouses-John and Jane David of Arlington Heights, Illinois, Larry and Cheryl David of Orange, Jeanie David of Kingwood, Julie and Terry Lyons of Austin, Mary Irene and Tom Murray of Kingwood, Joanie and Donnie Foreman of Nederland, Janie and Carl Leedy of Bakersfield, California, and Annie and Jim Koehler of Arlington. He also leaves behind nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Jimbo dearly: Brent David, Nicole Parks, Joseph David, Chris, Carrie, Matt and Michael Benefield, Rebecca Adams, Kathryn Campbell, C.J., Michelle and Frances Leedy, Keith, Kellie, and Katie Koehler, Jim Graham and Jenny Kay. He also leaves behind his faithful canine companions, Bouree and Isabel.

Jim attended St. Mary Catholic School and graduated from Lutcher Stark High School in Orange, finishing his education with a degree in business administration from Lamar University, where he was an active member of the Kappa Sigma Phi fraternity. Jim was a partner in the Orange Insurance Agency with his brother, Larry, a business started by their grandfather in 1928.

Jim also worked as a waiter and bartender at Pappadeaux's in Beaumont with three of his nephews, and was known to all the staff as Uncle Jimbo.

His two boys meant everything to him and you could always find him in a volunteer role at Kelly High School, particularly at athletic events. He could often be found at the movies, a favorite hobby that he shared with his boys. History and books were of particular interest to Jim. He had great faith and was very active at St. Anne Catholic Church in Beaumont. He shared his faith in many ways, including being a leader of several ACTS retreat teams.

Jim had a big, kind heart as well as a quick wit. We will all miss his clever puns. Jimbo, we will always have you in our hearts.

The family requests that any memorials to honor Jim be made to Kelly High School Tuition Assistance Program or to the Humane Society of Southeast Texas.
