Jody Wayne Ball

1968 ∼ 2015

Jody Wayne Ball was born in Beaumont, Texas on September 2, 1968 to Gary Eugene Ball and Carolyn Sue (Legato) Ball. He passed away on October 15, 2015 at his home.

Jody was born and raised in Beaumont and was a graduate of Kelly High School and Lamar University. He was a longtime employee of UPS and later worked in the Maritime Industry. He loved being outside whether at the beach or fishing and most especially enjoyed anything to do with sports. The Pittsburgh Steelers were his favorite team but he could tell you the scores of any game regardless who was playing.

Jody loved being around people and was most often the center of attention. You always knew when Jody Ball was in the room! But more important than that, when you were with Jody he made you feel like the most important person in the world. That is a gift that not many people have and Jody was certainly blessed with that gift.

The most important people in Jody’s life were his family and friends. He was devoted to his family and friends and they never questioned that they were loved.

Those left to cherish his memory are his parents, Gary and Carolyn Ball of Beaumont; his wife, Kodie Dawn (Foret) Ball; his children, Victoria Marie Ball, Juliet Marie Ball both of Pearland, Kyzyk Joseph Legato Ball, and Krosston Jude Foret Ball both of Lumberton; and his brother, Gary Michael Ball of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

A gathering to celebrate Jody’s life will take place on Monday, October 19, 2015, from 6:00p.m.-8:00p.m. at Claybar Kelley-Watkins funeral home in Beaumont.

This date and every day we mourn our loss and how it has changed our life. Though his body has no earthly resting place, we know his Spirit is in the better place prepared by Jesus. RIP Jody Kodie: We will not forget you. Whenever you close your eyes to rest, or to sleep, you will feel, hear, and see our presence. You will know the nearness of our spirit forever. Jesus Never Sleeps

To the Ball family - I am really sorry to hear about this and especially to hear two weeks later. I would have been at the Memorial Service if I had known. It was my pleasure to coach Jody in high school sports. He was a gifted athlete, a good teammate and a good person to know. His smile was infectious and his deviousness was truly a charm! Please accept my condolences and know that I really enjoyed knowing Jody! Coach Gary Brewton

Jody was such a sweet man that always knew how to make people smile. I could go into his office when I was stressed from work or just needed advice. He helped me emotionally after my husband passed away about how to move on and keep living. He was always a joy to be around. Even on our bad days we could make each other laugh. I'll be praying for his family for comfort and peace. It's very hard to lose a husband and daddy but you'll get through it. You'll have good days and bad days but always remember he will always be there watching over you. He's forever your guardian angel.

Jody was always vibrant, full of life, and never backed down from a challenge. His enthusiasm was infectious, and his employees always felt supported and encouraged by him. I am sure everyone he met in life was impacted by his spirit. Jody will be missed, but he is now truly living. In John 11:25 Jesus said, " 'I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying.'"

I am so very sorry for your loss of such a beautiful soul. Jody was so special and not a day went by that he did not stop at my desk and first ask about my daughter and then follow it up with a thirty minute conversation on how the Steelers were letting us down this yearn and exactly what he and I thought Big Ben needed to do to win us a game. I have missed him since the day he left Wilhelmsen and now I miss him even more. my thoughts and prayers are with his beautiful children and their mothers and I pray for their strength to carry on. I so loved Jody's friendship and I will carry his memory with me the rest of my life. Rest in piece my Steeler friend. Until we see each other again. Monique

He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die’” (John 11:23-26). Jesus turned death from a curse into a blessing—a blessing that starts the moment we close our eyes for the last time. Fly like an eagle little brother! We will see each other again one day. Love you!
