Funeral services for J.C. Chance, Jr., 78, of Beaumont will be held Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Claybar Kelley-Watkins Chapel. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Chance was born August 2, 1931 in Beaumont to John Cruse Chance, Sr. and Jeannette Bythewood Chance and passed away March 6, 2010 in Beaumont. He was a lifelong resident of Beaumont and was a retired drilling contractor.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol Chance of Beaumont; two daughters and sons-in-law, Caren and James K. Stewart of San Antonio, and Ranell D. and Bill Brooks of Beaumont; two sons and daughters-in-law, David Wayne and Pamela K. Chance of Lumberton, John R. and Pam S. Chance of Austin; eight grandchildren, Allison and Shawn Bowen, Emily Stewart, Melissa Stewart, Justin Wayne Chance, Cody Matthew Chance, John Travis Chance, Blake Brandon Chance and Bailey Ann Brooks; and three great-grandchildren, Chance, Colton and Audrey Bowen.
J. C. was many things to many people, a straight shooter, a jokester, and a devoted family man whose handshake was his word.
