John Hoyt Curtis

John Hoyt Curtis, 86, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away on September 12, 2022, in Beaumont, Texas.

Born in Houston, Texas, on January 9, 1936, he was the son of John Curtis and Helen McDonald. In his younger years he guided for the YO Ranch. He enjoyed spending his time playing chess, board games, darts, golf, and most of all traveling. John retired from the Department of Defense after 30 years of service after which he enjoyed shuttling friends to doctors’ appointments and to the airport. He made an impact on many lives and will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his sons John Curtis and David Lynn Curtis and wife Ellen T. Boyle Curtis.

He is survived by his daughter, Debra Buckley of Beaumont, Texas; sister, Jane Kemp and husband Duke; niece, Kristine Muntan; and nephew, Zachary Kemp; stepdaughters, Susan Waldron and Ruth Clark.
