Visitation will be at 12:00 p.m., June 11, 2021, at First United Methodist Church.

Born and raised in Beaumont on November 15, 1951, to John and Ila June Watson. Johnny attended French Elementary, James Bowie Jr High, and French High before graduating from Lamar University. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joey Watson. He is survived by brothers, Jack Seely of Austin and Jeffrey Watson of Palestine.

Johnny was born with a rare disorder called ARSACS, which caused him to have a spastic gait as a boy and he progressively lost the ability to use his arms and legs as he aged. However, Johnny Watson made up for those deficiencies with the greatest personality and the biggest heart in the world. People remember Johnny’s smile that was bigger than a Mobil Oil flare in the sky, his heart which never met a person he did not like, and his humor. Whether it is the memory of Johnny wearing a motorcycle helmet and riding a tricycle down the halls of James Bowie Jr High, listening to his extensive music collection, or him helping someone out of a hard situation, everyone that knew Johnny remembers the good in life. He will be missed by many.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Texas Lions Camp, PO Box 290247, Kerrville, Tx 78029, a place that helped make Johnny who he was.

I have such great memories of being part of a plethora of cousins - different last names, but all Watsons at heart. John, Johnny, is such a part of those memories - and so are the rest of us! We have been blessed in so many ways! Other families might not see some of them as blessings - the Brocks did; we had Charles Maurice. He and Johnny shaped our lives in ways that I'm still learning. I love you all! Maureen
