John A. Dixon, Sr.

John A. Dixon, Sr., 83, of Orange, Texas died Monday, September 20, 2010, at St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at Faith United Methodist Church in Orange, with Reverend Kevin Kissel, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.

Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Hammond, Louisiana on August 15, 1927, John was the son of Clarence and Kitty Lou Hughes Dixon. He served in the U.S. Navy and worked in maintenance at DuPont for 20 years and at Owens – Illinois for 14 years.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill Dixon and Tommy Dixon.

John is survived by his wife, Agnes M. Dixon; son, John Dixon, Jr. and wife Pam; daughters, Molley Abshier and husband Larry, Jane Lampman and husband Ed; 10 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his brothers, Oscar Dixon and wife Bea, Nelson Dixon; sister, Allie Venita "Sis" Rush; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as Pallbearers will be the grandsons, David Lampman, Jimbo Davis, Cody Abshier, Casey Abshier, J.J. Dixon, Jason Dixon, Allen Dixon, and Chris Lampman.
