John H. Herrington

John H. Herrington, 80, of Orange, died Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 21, 2010, at North Orange Baptist Church. Officiating will be Reverend Scott McIntosh and Reverend Larry Lormand. Burial will follow at Niblett's Bluff Cemetery in Vinton, LA.

Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Winnsboro, Louisiana on April 8, 1930, John was the son of Lula Elizabeth Wactor and Joseph Herrington. He retired from Texaco Refinery after 37 and a half years of service. At the time of his retirement, he was manager of the store room facility. He was a member of North Orange Baptist Church and was an active community servant for 53 years in Orange.

Preceded in death by his wife, Doris Herrington, John is survived by his son, Charles Herrington and wife Karen of Corsicana; daughter, Evita Herrington Kemmer and husband Scott of Pine, Colorado; grandchildren, Dusty Kemmer and wife Kristi, Claudette Okorafor and husband, Michael and Anne Marie Herrington; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Dylan and Lauren Kemmer, Jasmine, Jordan and Jayden Okorafor and Indigo Stovall; and sister, Odeyene Myers of Orange.

Memorial contributions may be made to North Orange Baptist Church, 4775 N. 16th St., Orange, TX 77632.

John and Doris goes way back in our lives. She as my beauty school teacher and John and I were Presidents of our Community Serv. for LCM High S.
