I had company, then went out of town for more than a week, so failed to post this on the Beaumont Enterprise Friends page earlier. Joe was a great guy. I remember when, post Hurricane Rita, I was given the assignment of upgrading the second floor. Joe and another great guy (sorry, I’m old and struggle with names) helped paint walls, fix flooring where necessary, but the worst was the mirror. The ladies room on the second floor had a big crack across one side. My mission included keeping costs down, so I had suggested pulling the mirror down; cutting off the crack, and reinstalling the smaller mirror. The glass/mirror company would charge us for the trimming, but wanted no responsibility for a new break in the mirror. Both guys were frightened of the potential bad luck a broken mirror might bring with it. So, we had a little talk. Both guys and I, wearing tennis shoes, gloves, and sunglasses (to protect our eyes,) slowly and gently pried the mirror from the bathroom wall. I felt like Wonder Woman that day, keeping the guys calm and accomplishing the tough task. When the powers-to-be continued to push me toward advertising work . . . And rumors abounded, I decided to take early retirement in 2011 to, instead, work with my husband at our successful business that opened in 2002. We sold that business in 2020, right before the COVID panic. Just trying to enjoy life now.

Joe had a heart the size of Texas. There wasn't a friend he said no to when they needed him. I remember him coming and helping Will pull a transmission in our backyard, and so many other things that you both were there for us. You will be missed.
