Josephine Free

Josephine "Jo' Simar Free, 94, of Orange passed away, Tuesday, February 26, 2008 in Orange.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Jospeh P. Daleo of St. Mary Catholic Church in Orange. A private entombment will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, February 29, 2008 at the funeral home. A rosary service will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Jo was born in Iota, Louisiana, on September 7, 1913 to Simeon and Lucy Legoin Free. Jo loved to travel and was a Department Manager at Weingarten's for 11 years. She was also a proud member of the St. Mary Catholic Church since 1932 and St. Mary Catholic Church Altar Society.

Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson H. Free, daughter, Dolores M. Duhon, brother, Pete Simar, sister Florence Lawler and sister Agnes Leger.

She is survived by her son, Richard Free of Orange, grandchildren, Joey Duhon, Jacqui Duhon, Geri Ann Baliff, David Stuart Duhon, five great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Jo is also survived by her brother, Hubert Simar of Dripping Springs, TX, sister, Leatrice Gautreaux of Iota, LA and brother, L.C. Simar of Opelusa, LA.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Jo's memory to St. Mary School library.
