Joseph "J.D." Richard, 78, of Orange, died Sunday, January 9, 2011, at Vidor Health and Rehab.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Keith Royal of Winfree Baptist Church in Orange. Burial will follow at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park in Orange.
Visitation will be from 5:00-9:00 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.
Born in Leonville, Louisiana on October 6, 1932, J.D. was the son of Joseph A. and Ida Fitzgerald Richard. He served in the U.S. Army, was an electrician at Ameripol Synpol Corporation and a member of the Masonic Lodge #126.
Preceded in death by his parents and wife, Betty June Richard, J.D. is survived by his son, David "Kel" Richard and wife, Margaret of Orange; and daughters, Vickie Cooper and husband, Trent of Orangefield and Tracy Tauzin of Lumberton.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Shane Cooper, Cicilye Williams, Derek Richard; six great-grandchildren; brother, Joe Richard and wife Mary Ann; and sisters, Patsy Hall and husband, Jimmy, and Barbara Wiggins and husband, Jerry Don.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be his great-grandchildren, Trent Austin Cooper II, Brooklyn Cooper, Chase Herndon, Alyssa Herndon, Avery Williams and Emma Williams.
