Julia Ludrick Courtney, 95, of West Orange, died Tuesday, September 7, 2010.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 10, 2010, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.

Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home in Orange.

Born in Emporia, Kansas on November 19, 1914, Julia was the daughter, of William and Cynthia Babcock Ludrick. She worked as a secretary.

Preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Courtney; and brother, Raymond Ludrick, Julia is survived by her son, Bill Courtney of West Orange; grandchildren, Sean Courtney and his wife, Nikki and Chris Courtney and his wife, Kristi; and 5 great-grandchildren, Alannah, Lauren, Aidan, Benjamin and Samantha Courtney.

If I could say just one word about the sweet loving lady it would be "giving". She gave of herself from a heart filled with love. She will always have a very special place in my heart, I fondly speak of her in conversations that pertain to the family. She was a true jewel and precious to all that knew her. I was greatly blessed to have been a part of her life.
