The world was made less bright on January 2, 2016, with the passing of Karrie Leslie Baker, 39, of League City, Texas. She was born June 24, 1976, in Memphis, Tennessee to Leslie B. Baker and Mary Susan Baker. Her children are Julian Hud Gibbins, Jude Leslie Gibbins, and Jaxtin Adele McCollum.

She is survived by her sister, Kimberly Susan McDonald and husband, Rocky; her brother, Kraig David Baker; nephew, Taylor Ryne McDonald and niece, Kendall Susan McDonald. She is survived also by aunts and uncles, Suzette and David Featherston and family, Diane Hargett and family, David Rex and Ginny Baker and family, Jim and Kathy King and family, John and Debbie King and family, Mary and Ken Antrobus and family, Robert King and family.

Karrie attended Lumberton High School, Class of 1994 and Lamar University where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing. During her senior year at Lamar University she was chosen as part of a marketing campaign for Toyota Motors. She is also an alumnus of Alpha Delta Pi. Post-graduation Karrie was employed successfully in sales with Miller, Datavox and Hertz.

Karrie would light up a room with her smile and inner beauty. She loved her children and family with all her heart. Karrie showered her children with hugs and kisses. She enjoyed playing sports with her boys Julian and Jude and being a girly girl with her daughter Jaxtin. Karrie attended St. Mary Catholic Church of League City and her boys received their First Communion this past spring.

Karrie was a compassionate and devoted friend, of which she had many. She had a strong work ethic, believed in staying fit, maintaining a healthy lifestyle and loved keeping up with current fashion trends. She was inspiration to all who knew her. We know that Karrie is at peace and watching over her children. Part of her will live on in her children and she will be forever in their hearts.

We will always miss her.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 2:00pm at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Claybar Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Even after not seeing Kerrie in probably 15 years we passed each other in the hallway of our kids elementary school... I can still her in her loud voice say Havens??? Karrie was the rock in my world and many others as well. Since high school, she has been that steady person who is at every event, every milestone. No matter what event, or even if it was just a visit, once she arrived, I felt like I could finally just breathe. And I believe she felt the same - mainly because we both knew that whatever may happen to come up, it would get handled, and all would be okay. That's the type of person she was. All hands in. 110%. Whatever she was into. My family loved her so very much and she loved us, too. She loved every one and everything that was important to her friends and proved that time and time again. Karrie was around 11 years old when she went with us to D.C. We were driving from Lexington, Ky to D.C. It was night time. She, Mandy and Jaime were just chattering away in the back seat, having a ball. Karrie said that she loved when it rained and driving through it. About 2 minutes, the skies opened up. We've never seen it rain so hard. For the first time, David slowed down and took the next ramp off the interstate. The first place we came to was a fire station. We all had a great time getting a tour of the fire house before the rain let up and we got back on the road.
