Katherine Smith Finley

Katherine Smith Finley, 72, of West Orange, died Tuesday, January 20, 2009, at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas.

Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2009, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange, with the Reverend Danny Gilliam, pastor of McDonald Memorial Baptist Church, officiating.

A private interment will follow.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2009, at the funeral home.

Born in Orange on July 9, 1936, Katherine was the daughter of William Alfred Smith and Emma C. Bazzano Smith Farmer.

She was a graduate of Stark High School where she was a Drum Major in the Bengal Guards.

Katherine was a homemaker, had worked as a legal secretary and was a member of McDonald Memorial Baptist Church in West Orange.

Preceded in death by her parents and sister, Wilma Smith Waldrep, she is survived by her husband, Don H. Finley of West Orange, daughters, Sharon Kay Finley of Austin, Carol Suzanne Barlow and her husband, Michael, of Nederland; grandchildren, Randi and Brandon Macnair and sisters, Sally Smith Romero of West Orange and Myrtle Smith Rives of Deweyville.
