Katie Stringer Smith, 89, of Bridge City, Texas, died Thursday, May 21, 2009, at Cypress Glen Health Center in Port Arthur, Texas.

A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Melville Baptist Church Cemetery in Melville, Louisiana.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12 noon on Sunday at Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas, Louisiana. We will depart for the cemetery at 1:15 p.m. on Sunday.

Mrs. Smith was born on April 30, 1920, in Palestine, Mississippi and was a former resident of Melville. She had lived in Bridge City for the past nine years.

She was a homemaker and member of the Melville Baptist Church.

Preceded in death by her husbands, Homer Clifton Boyd and Lawrence E. Smith; sisters, Abbie Stringer, Alice Lidell and Nellavie Stringer, Mrs. Smith is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert Earl and Sharon Boyd of Raymond, Mississippi; daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Ann and Ben Ezell of Bridge City, Texas; sister, Laverne Guion of Jackson, Mississippi; brother and sister-in-law, William N. and Lorraine Stringer of Hermanville, Mississippi; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
