Larry David Sonier, 63, of Vinton, Louisiana, died Friday, February 4, 2011, at his residence

Funeral services will be 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange, Texas. Cremation will follow at Claybar Haven of Rest Crematory in Bridge City, Texas.

Visitation will be from 5:00- 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Born in Orange, Texas on October 10, 1947, Larry was the son of J.C. and Wanda Jo Hightower Sonier. He worked as a deckhand and tankerman in the Maritime industry. Larry was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved spending time in ?his? woods on the hill. One of his greatest prides was his grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Kathy Shifflett, Larry is survived by his sons, Larry David Sonier, Jr. of Leavenworth, Kansas, James Dean Sonier of Leesville, Louisiana; daughters, Christina Marie Sonier of Leavenworth, Kansas, and Michelle Lea Pereza and her husband, Micah of Waynesville, Missouri.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Christian Sonier, Moira Sonier, John Pereza, Victoria Pereza, Matthew Pereza and Cheyenne Keller; sister, Debby Parker and husband, Mike of Port Neches, Texas; brothers, Terry Sonier and wife, Emily of Groves, Texas, Jerry Sonier, and wife, Carol of Port Arthur, Texas; and many loving nieces and nephews.

My deepest sympathy to the Sonier family in their loss. We were neighbors and good friends with the Sonier's long ago when they lived on Kingham Road in Lake Charles, LA. Sorry for your loss....I enjoyed visiting Larry even long ago when 'Uncle Britches' was alive and living next door. It seemed like he was always trying to take care of his dad.
