What a wonderful man Larry was to anyone who's life he touched. The light, love & the grace of CHRIST was always apparent and available through Larry. His warm ways and gentle smile touched many lives for sure. Larry has gone ahead to rest with our LORD. He remains here in our warm memories and will always reside in our hearts until we see him again. If Larry were here today, he might tell us......"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing; give thanks for everything; for this is GOD'S will for you through CHRIST JESUS." Don Ames

Larry Custer was a good friend. He walked every morning and put my paper up by the front door. He came to see Clifton when he was down, and brought him Communion. He loved greens! Every time I cooked greens I called Larry, and I said "Bring your bowl". He was at the door before I could hang the phone up! One time my freezer quit, and I had to either throw away a lot of food or cook it. I called my brother and his wife, and Larry and Dolores to come help us eat the food I cooked. Larry was delighted and said something like "We hope the freezer goes out more!!" He was fun and he always made others feel good. When Clifton was down for 2 years before he died, Larry came to see him and cheer him (and me) up a good many times. After I lost my home in the flood and wasn't there any more, when I talked to Dolores I always said "Tell Larry I love him." When she called and told me he was gone, I said "I hope I didn't upset you saying to tell Larry I love him." She said "No - everybody loved Larry!" It was my joy to know and love both of them, and their family.

I remember Larry as a wonderful Christian example. We met when I joined the choir at CIP. He welcomed me as a new member of the Church as well as a new member of the choir. I am sorry to hear of this loss.

"Uncle Larry", what a wonderful man of God. I married into this family and from the first time I met Larry, he made me feel like I was as loved as anyone who was born into the family. To know Larry is to love him and I know he is loved by many. The eyes of Texas are upon you my friend, and now the glory of the Lord is shining on you. Rest in peace my brother and I will see you when I get to Heaven. I don't know if we will get to eat turkey there, but if we do, I'll bring you your favorite piece. Stephen Williams

Connie and I are remembering each of you in prayer during this time. I have many great memories of Larry from my 9 years at Cathedral. I laugh whenever I remember our son, Eric, calling him Mr. Custard.
