Lilly Broussard Smith

Lilly Smith, 90, was born March 20, 1922 in Abbeville, LA to Leon and Ella Suire Broussard and passed away October 16, 2012 in Beaumont, TX. A gathering of friends and family will be from 5:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday, October 18 at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday, October 19, at the Gospel Tabernacle, 1225 Glendale, in Beaumont. Interment will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. Smith was a resident of Beaumont since 1937 and a long- time member of The Gospel Tabernacle where she was pastored through life by Rev. R.D. Gibson, Rev. Allen Doyle, Rev. W.J. Treece, Rev. Tony Morrison and currently pastored by Rev. Michael LaBrie.

She is survived by her children; Wesley Smith Jr. and wife, Wanda, Frank Smith and wife, Ida, Joyce Peoples and husband, Wayne, Mark Smith and wife, Jeanette and Robert Smith and wife, Sarah; grandchildren, Kathy Pitman Bill, John Smith, Candace Harvil Frank, Laura Gonzales Mark, Lisa Brittain Chris, Christie Hirasaki Ron, Shane Peoples Krissy, Angie Peoples, Misty Smith, Dustin Smith Rachel, Travis Smith and Cal Fulton; 12 great-grandchildren, and her twin sister, Lillian Smith. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Wesley T. Smith Sr.;her parents; great-grandson, Joshua Peoples; brothers, Isaac and Rene and sisters, Rena, Nedia, Nelta, Aleta and Alete.

Lilly B. Smith faithfully loved God, her husband and children, all of her family and her church. She showed forth the heart and soul of a loving mother, a devoted wife and a friend to all. That is why, to this day, her children, 'arise and call her blessed'.
