Linda Fern Richardson Martin was born on June 11, 1940, in Chester, Texas, and passed away on May 11, 2026, in Beaumont, Texas.
After graduating Chester High School, she moved to Beaumont around 1958.
In 1959, she rescued a young man - James Patrick Martin - who had a flat tire on the way home from the beach and married him 5 months later. Together they would have 2 children and 3 grand children and one great-grand child over the course of their 66 year long marriage.
Linda graduated from Lamar University with a degree in education in 1980. She started as an ESL teacher, but spent the majority of her career teaching reading at Austin Middle School. After retiring from BISD, Linda volunteered as a docent at the McFaddin-Ward House.
She is survived by her husband Pat, her daughter Jennifer, her grandchildren Mary Frances and Ken Vermillion, Kelby Martin, and Katherine and Megan Curry, and her great grand daughter Carson Curry.
There will be a visitation to honor Linda Friday, May 15, 2026, from 5:00 P.M to 7:00 P.M at LaBrie Claybar Funeral Home in Beaumont, Texas.
In addition, a Graveside service will take place, Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 10:00 A.M. at Antioch Cemetery in Buna, Texas.
Honorary Pallbearers are Jeffrey Martin, Wayne Martin, Kelby Martin, Charlie Fairchild, Darrel Richardson, and Mike Martin.
