Lois Fay Lafitte Morgan

1928 ∼ 2014

Funeral services for Lois Fay Lafitte Morgan, 85, of Lumberton, will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2014 in the Claybar Kelley-Watkins Chapel. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 12-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Lois Faye Lafitte Morgan was born on November 10, 1928 to E.C. and Onie (Brown) Lafitte in Orange, Texas. She met the man of her dreams, Lee Morgan, on a double date and they married in 1950.

Lee was hired by DuPont and joined the start-up of the Victoria, Texas site in 1951. He and Lois moved to Victoria where they were active in their church, the Baptist Temple. At the church, Lois was a Sunday school teacher and enjoyed singing with Lee.

Lois was a dedicated mother to her two children, Connie and Rusty, who are both hearing impaired. She became an advocate for the children, teaching them through flash cards and constant lessons. She learned to help Rusty with sign language and spent many hours driving to the Texas School for the Deaf in Austin, Texas.

Lois and Lee owned and operated a specialty clothing store in Victoria for 28 years. Lois enjoyed working with the customers, especially helping to meet the uniform needs of the local doctors and nurses. Lois was always full of laughter and stories at any gathering with family and friends. She loved camping, traveling, and attending family reunions.

Lois was a faithful servant to God, a loving sister, wife, mother, and grandmother to her favorite blessing, Willard Chesney III. Lois served as a role model; living the life of a Christian wife, mother and business woman in front of numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lee J. Morgan, Sr.; her parents, E.C. and Onie (Brown) Lafitte; her daughter, Glenda Morgan; brothers, Jim and L.C. “Bud” Lafitte, and sisters, Lola Ballard and Dezzie Hutson.

Lois is survived by her children, Connie Morgan Chesney of Lumberton and Lee Jr. “Rusty” Morgan, of Houston. She is also survived by her grandson, Willard Chesney III of Virginia.
