Louie ?Weldon? Fittz, 69, of Deweyville, beloved husband, father and grandfather, peacefully went to be with the Lord on February 12, 2011, at his home with his family, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at First Baptist Church of Deweyville. Brother Damon Bickham and Brother Brad Bickham will be officiating. A Masonic Graveside Service will be immediately following at Trout Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00-9:00 p.m. on Monday, February 14, 2011, at the church.

Weldon was born in Shelbyville, Texas on May 8, 1941, to L.G. Fittz and Delmer Snider Fittz. He graduated from Shelbyville High School and attended Stephen F. Austin College. He was a born again Christian, a member of First Baptist Church of Deweyville, and instilled his Christian faith in his family.

He was a 32nd degree Master Mason member of Sam Houston Lodge #32 in Shelbyville. He was a retired member of Local 195 Pipefitters Union and retired from Ameripol-Synpol. He was also a paramedic serving Orange County for several years, was a coordinator and instructor for Peoples Ambulance Service in Deweyville and taught at Lamar State College Orange.

Weldon was preceded in death by his mother, father, and his wife, Beverly Rhodes Fittz.

He is survived by his wife, of 23 years, Ophelia Burks Fittz of Deweyville; sister, Phyllis Wagstaff and husband, Glenn of Shreveport; children, Dean Fittz and wife, Pam of Dallas, Angela Shelton and Eric Zahlmann of Orange, Todd Cooper of Deweyville, Kimberly Smalley and husband, Josh of Bridge City, Melanie Sharpe and husband, Donny of Houston, and Scott Fittz of Dallas; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends who will all miss him dearly. He was looking forward to the arrival of 2 more grandchildren as well as another great-grandchild.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas.
