Louis Duhon

Louis Duhon, 93, of West Orange, died Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 21, 2011, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Tom Phelan. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, with a Rosary service at 7:00 p.m. officiated by Deacon Harvey Dubois.

Born in Maurice, Louisiana on January 6, 1918, Louis was the son of Oleus and Arvilla Thibodeaux Duhon. He served in the Army in World War II and retired from the Navy Base in Orange after 25 years. He also retired from the West Orange Cove Maintenance Department after 10 years. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Wilson Duhon; and sister, Lelia Daigle.

Louis is survived by his wife of 72 years, Melba Duhon; daughters and sons-in-law, Juanita and Edward Smith of Orange, and Charlotte and Joe Alford of West Orange; grandchildren, Edward L. Smith and wife Kathy, Wade Smith and wife Julie, Laura Watters and husband Sam, all of Orange, and Joseph Alford of Nacogdoches; and great-grandchildren, Casey, Shelby, Colton, Chloe, Cade, and Reece Smith of Orange.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Ed Smith, Wade Smith, Joseph Alford, Sam Watters, Eric Duhon, and Raymond Saunders. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Alvin Duhon, Nick Lomonte, and J.C. Daigle.
