Marjorie Ellen Carroll

Marjorie Carroll, 100, was born May 27, 1912 in Humble, TX to W.E. and Mellie Welch Rembert Sr. and passed away November 4, 2012 in Beaumont. Mrs. Carroll was a long time resident of Beaumont and an active and longstanding member of First Baptist Church. She taught the Esther Class for almost 60 years and was a member of various book clubs and sewing clubs through the years. She organized and was curator of the church's Heritage Room which provided a place to store and display church artifacts. She was a Docent at McFaddin-Ward House, a volunteer at Tyrrell Library Historical Society and still found time to read the Bible through 22 times in 3 years. She was also a member of the Texas Gulf Historical Society and the Hugenot Society of South Carolina.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at First Baptist Church Chapel officiated by Dr. Chris Moody. Visitation will take place from 9:00 until the time of service. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.

Marjorie is survived by her son, Ed E. Carroll Jr. and wife, Linda, of Rosenberg, TX; grandson, Wesley Carroll of Beaumont and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Edgar E. Carroll Sr.; her parents; her brothers, W. G. Jr., Kenneth and Nyle Rembert and her sister, Maurine Turner.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 900 Calder Avenue, Beaumont, 77701.
