Marjorie L. Washburn, 87, of Nederland, and a former resident of Orange, died Sunday, December 7, 2008, at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City, with the Reverend Bob Boone, pastor of First Baptist Church in Bridge City, officiating.

Interment will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Born in Meridian, Mississippi on September 15, 1921, Mrs. Washburn was a resident of Orange for 60 years before moving to Nederland about three years ago. She was a former longtime member of First Baptist Church in Bridge City, where she had served as a Sunday School teacher and was involved in many years of mission work. Currently, Mrs. Washburn was a member of First Baptist Church in Port Neches.

She also worked as a volunteer at Baptist Hospital in Orange and was very involved in the rearing of her children.

Mrs. Washburn was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Marietta Foster Jopling, her son, Thomas Musick and on October 23, 2008, by her husband of 44 years, Edgar S. Washburn, III.

She is survived by her children, Barbara Musick Bridges and her husband, Barry, of Belton, Mary Musick Erwin of Beaumont, Delores Musick of Nederland and Dr. Phillip E. Washburn and his wife, Deletta, of McAlester, Oklahoma.

Mrs. Washburn is also survived by her sister, Claudia Miller; grandchildren, Cynthia Fey Chambers and her husband, Larry, Rob Erwin and his wife, Sarah, Troy Fey, Gregory Washburn, Timothy Washburn and his wife, Mary, Teresa Washburn Witt and her husband, Lance; 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Rob Erwin, Troy Fey, Larry Chambers, Barry Bridges, Lance Witt and Tracy Cormier.
