Martha Jacqueline Autry Brown

Martha Jacqueline Autry Brown, 79, of Orangefield, died Friday, March 6, 2009.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 9, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Kenneth Smith.

Burial will follow at Autumn Oaks in Orange.

Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.

Jacque was born in Coleman, Texas February 26, 1930 to Leatha and Otis Autry and resided in Orangefield, Texas at the time of her death. She was the middle child between older sister, Wanda and younger brother, Bruce. Jesus and this wonderful family greeted her upon arrival to her Heavenly home.

She graduated from Valley View High near Wichita Falls, Texas in 1948 where she was their star volleyball player. She married Choyce Alton Brown in 1951. They enjoyed 52 years of marriage until his death in 2003 he is part of the welcoming group. She worked outside the home only briefly and was a wonderful mother and homemaker. She guided her daughters through many years as a Girl Scout Leader. Jacque never met a stranger and was there for all with a listening ear and a loving heart.

She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Brown Champagne and husband, Roland of Vidor, Brenda Slaughter and husband, Keith, Paula Hodge, Sandra Smith and husband, David all of Orangefield; grandchildren, Mandy, Mickey, Erica, Tasha, Travis, Lea, Wesley, and Steven; and great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Katelyn, and Nicole.

Serving as pallbearers are Roland Champagne, Michael Slaughter, Jr., Travis Hodge, Wesley Smith, Troy Mitchell, and James Bear.

Honorary pallbearers are Steven Smith and Natasha Hodge.
